An Iranian judiciary official confirmed the detention of Washington Post's correspondent in Tehran, Press TV reported on Saturday.

"Probe into the case is still in the preliminary stage, and information on that can be made public after technical investigations and interrogation," Director General of the Judiciary's Tehran Province Office Gholam-Hossein Esmaeili told reporters on Friday regarding the detention of Jason Rezaian and three of his companions.

"The security forces are in full command of the country and monitor all enemy moves," Esmaeili said, adding that the security forces will not allow the enemy and its lackeys to throw their weight around in the country.

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that Jason Rezaian, a 38-year-old Iranian-American citizen, his Iranian wife Yeganeh Salehi and two other American citizens as freelance photo- journalists were arrested Tuesday evening in Tehran.

According to Press TV, Rezaian has been Washington Post's correspondent in Tehran since 2012, and his wife works as a correspondent for the National, a newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates.
