The Defense Day of Pakistan was celebrated at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing with enthusiasm and solemnity. Ambassadors, Defense Attaches,officers of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, media persons, think tanks and expatriates attend the ceremony held on the lawn of Pakistan House at the embassy compound.
The ceremony began as national anthems of Pakistan and China were played. This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Lieutenant General Zhuang Kezhu, Commander of Air Force, Beijing Area Military Command, PLA., along with Ambassador Masood Khalid and Defence & Army Attaché Brigadier Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat, sliced the cake to mark the day.
The other PLA officers who participated were Major General Li Tian Tian, Director General Military Intelligence Department, Rear Admiral Han Xiaohu, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff and Major General Ren Tianyou, Dean of Marxism & Leninism Teaching & Research Department, National Defense University (NDU).
The event was very well attended where national songs and documentaries on Pakistan were shown.
The 6th of September is an important day in the history of Pakistan. On this day in the year 1965, the armed forces and people of Pakistan, demonstrating unparalleled valor, thwarted enemy's nefarious designs, said Pakistan's Defense Attaché while highlighting the significance of the day to journalists at the reception.
