A multinational military exercise code-named "Rapid Trident" 2014 kicked off near the western Ukrainian town of Yavoriv on Monday.

The two-week exercise, which pulled together some 1,200 servicemen from 15 countries, was part of a U.S.-led training program.

The drill will be focused on peacekeeping operations and designed to support interoperability with allied and partner countries.

NATO members including Germany, Britain, Poland, Lithuania and Canada, as well as non-NATO members Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova took part in the war game.
