Six Afghans were killed and five others injured as a motorbike bomb exploded in Kunduz, capital of the northern Kunduz province, a provincial police spokesman said Tuesday.

"Anti-government militants placed explosive device in the cavities of a motorbike and exploded it in the bazaar of Dasht-e- Archi district at around 5:00 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) Monday, as a result six civilians were killed and five others injured," Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told reporters.

All the victims are civilians in Kunduz, 250 km north of Kabul, he added.

Meantime, locals said the blast had left eight people dead, including four students of a teachers training center, and injured 15 others.

Taliban militants who have staged a violent comeback six years ago to regain power have yet to claim responsibility for the deadly attack.
