Ukraine's state unclear power company Energoatom has reached an agreement with Russian state-owned fuel company TVEL on supplies of nuclear fuel for the former's reactors within the next two years, an official said here Tuesday.

"A supplementary agreement to our contract was signed to ensure supplies of nuclear fuel in 2015-2016," said Danko Biley, Energoatom's general inspector and safety director.

However, he did not disclose the delivery volume, price tag, and pricing formula stipulated in the deal.

Besides the TVEL, Ukraine will also purchase fuel for its nuclear reactors from the U.S.-based Westinghouse Electric Company, Biley said.

In 2010, Energoatom signed a deal with the TVEL on nuclear fuel supplies from 2011 till Sept. 2014. In 2013, Ukraine imported around 601 million U.S. dollars' worth of nuclear fuel from Russia.

Ukraine, where nuclear energy accounts for over half of power generation, heavily depends on nuclear fuel for its 15 reactors in four nuclear power plants.
