The European Union(EU) foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Thursday underlined the necessity to reduce tensions in Ukraine and move towards a lasting ceasefire.
During her meeting with Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial Council in Switersland's Basel, Mogherini stressed the need to implement the Minsk agreements in full and find a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, according to a statement released by EU External Action service.
Both Mogherini and Lavrov agreed the Ukraine crisis had seriously affected relations between the EU and Russia.
They also exchanged views on the Middle East peace process, the situation in Syria and the talks regarding Iran nuclear issue.
