Taliban militants have taken control of a bazaar in the western Herat province, a local television channel said on Thursday.
"Hundreds of Taliban fighters entered the bazaar of Shindand district last night," Tolo television reported the incident as a breaking news.
Meantime, deputy to Herat police chief Aminullah Azad rejected the capture of Shindand Bazaar by Taliban militants but confirmed their presence in the bazaar.
"Taliban rebels are present in Shindand bazaar and the security forces have launched operations to evict the insurgents from the area," he told Xinhua.
