AirAsia issues a correction on the nationalities of the passengers and crew on board QZ8501 on its latest Facebook page.

AirAsia issues a correction on the nationalities of the passengers and crew on board QZ8501 on its latest Facebook page.

The passengers include 149 from Indonesia, 1 Singapore, 1 Malaysia, and 3 South Korea, as well as 1 from the United Kingdom instead of its previous statement saying 1 from France.

The latest statement also identified the nationalities of crew as 1 French and 6 Indonesians.

The flight has lost contact with air traffic control during its flight from Indonesian’s Surabaya to Singapore at 07:24 Sunday morning.

According to its previous statement, there were 155 passengers on board, with 138 adults, 16 children and 1 infant. 2 pilots and 5 cabin crew were also on board.

The captain in command had a total of 6,100 flying hours and the first officer a total of 2,275 flying hours, according to previous statement of the airliner.

The aircraft was on the submitted flight plan route and was requesting deviation due to enroute weather before communication with the aircraft was lost while it was still under the control of the Indonesian Air Traffic Control (ATC), the statement said.

The aircraft had undergone its last scheduled maintenance on 16 November 2014.

The search and rescue are now underway.
