Three police were killed and five others sustained injuries as a police opened fire on his colleagues in Uruzgan province with Trinkot as its capital on Tuesday night.
Provincial government spokesman Dost Mohammad Nayab told Xinhua Wednesday "The gruesome incident happened in Dehrawad district last night and the attacker after committing the heinous crime and murdering three colleagues and injuring five others made his good escape."
Efforts are underway to arrest and bring to justice the culprits behind the bloody murder, the official added.
Meantime, a Taliban purported spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, in talks with media from unknown location, claimed responsibility for the attack, insisting a Taliban insurgent committed the attack.
