100 missing after boat capsizes in Central African Republic

A passenger boat coming from Democratic Republic of Congo capsized in Prefecture Kouango, south of Central African Republic (CAR), leaving around 100 passengers missing, local police authority said Thursday.

The boat was capsized on Wednesday after catching a fire. Around 100 passengers on board jumped into the water. There has been no report of casualties yet.

A source who required anonymity in the capital city of Bungui told Xinhua via phone that the goods on board was on fire first, and then the motor was on fire.

Majority of the passengers are from CAR, the source added.
