Australian health authorities on Tuesday were investigating the mass poisoning of more than 160 school principals who attended a weekend conference in Brisbane.

The authorities said on Tuesday that at least 164 principals were poisoned with 22 people so sick that they had to be taken to hospital.

Blood test results from one patient suggested salmonella poisoning, the authorities say.

The conference attracted all Queensland state school principals and senior departmental officials and was attended by more than 1, 200 people.
