Afghan national police backed by the army have killed 11 Taliban insurgents during series of operations across the conflict-ridden country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement released here on Thursday. "A total of 11 armed Taliban rebels have been killed during operations which conducted in Kunar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Logar, Ghazni, Herat, Farah and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours," the statement said.

It didn't say if there were casualties on the security personnel.

Taliban militants fighting the government are yet to make comments.
