Guo hoped the bilateral dialogue could help Italians better understand China's initiative to shape the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, also known as the “Belt and Road” initiatives. He noted that delegations from both sides agreed to explore new potential for cooperation in all sectors and hoped the dialogue would continue to consolidate China-Italy friendship.

Vinicio Peliffo, Chair of Amici della Cina, or "Friends of China," echoed Guo's sentiments. He said that Amici della Cina is an important China-friendly influence in the Italian Parliament, adding that Italian society supports the Dialogue.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. This year's World Expo will also be held in Milan, five years after Shanghai's turn. Guo and Peliffo both agreed that these occasions amount to new opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties and expressed hopes that the New Silk Road can also serve as a platform for better China-Italy relations.

The 2015 China-Italy Dialogue seeks to boost academic exchanges between China and Italy in a bid to facilitate deepened bilateral cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiatives.
