Philippine rebel group says to look for Samal kidnap victims

The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), one of the biggest rebel groups in Mindanao, is trying to locate four victims who were kidnapped in Samal Island last week, the rebel group said on Wednesday.
MNLF spokesman Absalom Cerveza said they have already asked several MNLF commanders in Sulu for information.
"I asked our men in Sulu if there is an ongoing operation relative to the matter," Cerveza said.
Last Sunday, Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he has received intelligence information that the hostages are already in Sulu.
The Philippine government on Tuesday said it would welcome any offer from individuals or groups, including MNLF.
"The help of any organization or individual to resolve any crime is welcomed by the government," Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.
On Sept. 21, armed men kidnapped Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sikkingstad and Filipino Flor at the Holiday Ocean View Samal Resort in Samal Island.
