China is willing to work with the United States to deepen law enforcement cooperation by jointly combating cybercrime, a senior Chinese security official said on Friday.

Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the comment during a meeting with a U.S. delegation in Beijing.

Led by Alejandro Mayorkas, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, the delegation is made up of representatives from Homeland Security, the State Department, Department of Justice, National Security Council and the FBI.

The delegation came to China for talks with their Chinese counterparts, including public security officials, to prepare for the launch of a high-level joint dialogue mechanism to fight cybercrime, a consensus reached during President Xi Jinping's state visit to the U.S. in September.

Mayorkas said the U.S. is willing to have more extensive, candid and open dialogue and cooperation with China in cyber security and law enforcement.
