U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Tunis on Friday to co-chair the second session of Tunisia-U.S. Strategic Dialogue with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Taieb Baccouche.

The strategic dialogue relies on the work of three commissions: security, economy and technical cooperation.

In a press conference, Baccouche explained that the U.S. delegation is to address issues related to Tunisia's transition, as well as the developing situation in neighboring countries like Libya and Syria, and its impact on the security situation in Tunisia.

During the dialogue, the two parties succeeded in signing agreements "in order to provide the Tunisian government with loans, to support Tunisia's development and its economy during five years," said Baccouche.

Kerry emphasized the importance of Tunisia as a model in the region.

"The United States is willing to help strengthen the Tunisian economy and fight the deep roots of radicalization," he added.
