The 8-year-old Dorian Murray, from Rhode Island, passed away on this past Tuesday.

His death was announced on the Facebook page aimed at supporting his fight against cancer.

Dorian was diagnosed with a rare and untreatable form of pediatric cancer when he was 4 years old.

He told his father he wanted to be famous in China, after his condition suddenly deteriorated a few months ago.

His father then posted his wish on Facebook, requesting people to use the hashtag #DStrong.

The move then spread across the globe.

It especially took off in China, where people sent photos of themselves on the Great Wall holding signs reading #DStrong.
