Sudan, Kenya pledge to cooperate to achieve peace

Sudan and Kenya on Sunday reiterated their readiness to work together to achieve peace and stability in Africa.
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta made the pledge at a joint press conference in Khartoum at the end of Kenyatta's two-day visit to Sudan.
"This visit of President Kenyatta will have a great effect in boosting the relations between the two countries in different fields," al-Bashir told the press conference.
He commended Kenya's stances supportive of Sudan, promising that his country would continue its distinguished ties with Kenya in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries.
President Kenyatta, for his part, said that he discussed with the Sudanese president a number of regional issues and means to bring about peace and stability in the region.
The two sides signed two memorandums of understanding in the field of industry.
They also issued a joint communiqué reiterating the importance of joining efforts to achieve peace and stability in South Sudan.
The Kenyan president started a two-day visit to Sudan on Saturday at the invitation of his Sudanese counterpart.
