Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolences to his Pakistani counterpart, Mamnoon Hussain, on Friday over a deadly terrorist attack in Sehwan town of Pakistan's south Sindh Province that killed 72 people.

In his message, Xi said he was shocked by the serious terrorist attack on Thursday that caused huge casualties in Pakistan, and the Chinese people deeply sympathized with the Pakistani people for their misfortune.

On behalf of the Chinese government, the Chinese people and himself, Xi extended profound condolences to the deceased, and sincere sympathy to the injured and the families of the victims.

China opposes terrorism in all forms and strongly condemns this terrorist attack, Xi said.

China will continue to firmly support Pakistan's efforts to combat terrorism, safeguard national stability and protect people's lives, he said.
