NEW DELHI, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Several flights connecting major cities in the northwest states of India have been impacted on Wednesday due to airspace restrictions in the aftermath of India's military air strikes in Pakistan.
Early Wednesday, the Indian military said it targeted nine sites inside Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir.
The attack was carried out to avenge last month's killing of 26 people in Baisaran area of Pahalgam town, about 89 km east of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Airlines have alerted their passengers about cancellations and possible delays in departures and arrivals.
"In view of the prevailing situation, Air India has cancelled all its flights to and from the following stations - Jammu, Srinagar, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot - till 12 noon on 7 May, pending further updates from authorities," Air India said in a statement on social media.
"Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, our flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are impacted. We request you to check your flight status," another airline IndiGo said in its advisory.
Spicejet airline announced that due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Jammu, Srinagar and Amritsar, are closed until further notice because of which departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted. Enditem
