NEW DELHI, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The Indian armed forces on Thursday launched military operations against air defense systems at multiple locations inside Pakistan, Indian media reports said.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that "Operation Sindoor", which was started against Pakistani targets on May 7, is still ongoing.

India does not want to see the situation escalating, but it will hit back if Pakistan takes any further actions, he said.

The Indian defense ministry stated that on the night of May 7 and May 8, Pakistan attempted to strike military targets across northern and western India with drones and missiles, but all of them were neutralized by India's air defense systems.

Speaking at a media briefing earlier in the day, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistani army, said Indian drones have been continuously intruding into Pakistani territories since the early hours of Thursday. Pakistan shot down 12 Indian drones in locations including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

Additionally, one Indian drone that entered Pakistan struck a military target in Punjab province, injuring at least four military personnel and damaging military facilities. Enditem
