NEW YORK, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.21 percent to 101.092 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1152 U.S. dollars from 1.1178 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3278 dollars from 1.3299 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 145.90 Japanese yen, higher than 145.68 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8390 Swiss francs from 0.8362 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3985 Canadian dollars from 1.3966 Canadian dollars.
