Cambodia makes 148 mln USD from rubber latex exports in first 4 months

PHNOM PENH, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned 148 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first four months of 2025, up 18 percent from 125 million dollars in the same period last year, said an official report on Wednesday.

The report released by the General Directorate of Rubber, showed that the kingdom exported 76,467 tons of the commodity during the January-April period this year, down 10.5 percent from 85,428 tons in the same period last year.

"A ton of rubber latex averagely cost 1,926 U.S. dollars during the first four months of 2025, roughly 461 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, acting-director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.

The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.

Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, in which the trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, are old enough to be tapped, the report said. Enditem
