WINDHOEK, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Namibia head coach Collin Benjamin has named a 33-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2025 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup.

The regional tournament is scheduled to take place in Mangaung, South Africa, from June 4 to 15.

The squad features four goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 10 midfielders, and six forwards.

Benjamin indicated a deliberate strategy behind his selection, noting the relatively young nature of the squad.

"We are in a transitional period where we have to integrate young, hungry players and get results at the same time. Not easy, but we always give it our best when it comes to the nation's pride," he said.

Namibia has been drawn into Group B along with Angola, Malawi and Lesotho. This year's tournament will see 14 teams vying for supremacy in the regional competition. Last year's edition featured 12 teams, with Angola emerging as champions and Namibia finishing runners-up. Enditem
