MANILA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine state weather bureau, PAGASA, on Tuesday warned that 22 areas across the country will experience a "dangerous level of heat index" on Wednesday.
The bureau warned that these areas are expected to see temperatures from 42 to 45 degrees Celsius, significantly increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heat stroke with prolonged exposure.
The heat index measures how hot it feels when the relative humidity at a given location is considered.
The weather bureau urges the public to limit outdoor activities, remain hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses.
March to May is the summer months in the Philippines and are classified as hot and dry. Enditem
