DAR ES SALAAM, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian authorities have announced that the country is ready to harness advanced technology to unlock the full potential of its oil and gas resources through strategic investments and international cooperation.

Charles Sangweni, director general of the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority, said on Tuesday that Tanzania is committed to integrating modern innovations into the energy sector, acknowledging the rapid pace of global technological advancements.

Speaking at the Africa Technology Conference held in the port city of Dar es Salaam, Sangweni highlighted Tanzania's untapped potential, noting that 23 petroleum exploration blocks are currently open for investment.

He said the government is prepared to work closely with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, which has organized the event, as well as other stakeholders in the sector.

Tanzania has discovered an estimated 57.54 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with 47 trillion cubic feet offshore and more than 10 trillion cubic feet onshore, Sangweni said.

The conference, themed "Navigating the Future: Building Technological Excellence for Sustainable Energy in Africa," brought together stakeholders and institutions from across the continent and beyond to discuss advancements in the oil and gas industry. Enditem
