VIENTIANE, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Industry and Commerce launched the National Intellectual Property Strategy project to promote innovation and creativity, with the goal of transforming local ideas into valuable assets that support a strong, sustainable economy in line with national development goals.
The project aims to develop a comprehensive national intellectual property strategy aligned with Laos' socio-economic development plans, according to the ministry's report on Thursday.
The strategy will focus on harnessing Lao people's creativity by transforming ideas into valuable Intellectual Property (IP) assets, such as products and services, that contribute to a robust and sustainable economy. It also aims to modernize IP management in the country, making it faster, more transparent, and internationally competitive.
Through this strategy, the Lao government seeks to support innovators, especially youth, researchers, programmers, entrepreneurs, and creators, by providing access to resources and tools needed to protect and commercialize their ideas.
Additionally, the strategy is expected to reduce reliance on imports, boost domestic innovation, and bolster economic resilience. Enditem
