JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Saturday that Israel has accepted an updated U.S.-mediated proposal for a hostage release deal, while accusing Hamas of stalling progress by rejecting the framework.

"Hamas' response is unacceptable and brings the situation backward," the statement read, citing U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. "Israel will continue its action for the return of our hostages and the defeat of Hamas."

Hamas, however, said it had submitted a "positive" response to the U.S.-backed plan but sought amendments, including a demand for a longer-term ceasefire. (Israel-Hamas-Ceasefire)

TEHRAN -- Iran on Saturday dismissed a report by the UN nuclear watchdog as "politically motivated and lacking balance," saying it failed to "accurately reflect the scale of Tehran's cooperation" with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a joint statement issued by the Foreign Ministry and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Tehran criticized the report -- compiled by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi at the request of the agency's 35-member Board of Governors -- as misleading. The report was leaked to media outlets earlier in the day. (Iran-IAEA-Report)
