ULAN BATOR, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The 10th International Conference of the Ulan Bator Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security kicked off here Thursday in Mongolia's capital city.
During the opening ceremony, Mongolian Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg reaffirmed Mongolia's unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability and cooperation in Northeast Asia.
"We believe that by fostering mutual trust and sustained dialogue, we can collectively build a more peaceful and prosperous future for the region", said Battsetseg.
Ulan Bator Dialogue serves its vital purpose of facilitating discussion and exchange of views among various stakeholders, she said, noting that it offers a neutral and inclusive space for preventative diplomacy, confidence-building measures, and the exchange of regional perspectives and local knowledge.
The dialogue has brought together more than 200 representatives from 40 countries and regions, including China, Canada, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, the United States and Britain, as well as organizations like the United Nations and the European Union.
The participants are discussing the regional security challenges and opportunities and multilateral cooperation in Northeast Asia from different perspectives, covering the areas of energy and climate change. Enditem
