AMMAN, June 23 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said on Monday held a phone call to discuss recent regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions.

King Abdullah II warned that the continued escalation threatens regional security and stability, urging all sides to exercise restraint and return to negotiations, according to a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court.

He also underscored the urgency of ending hostilities in the Gaza Strip, facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid into the strip, and reducing tensions in the West Bank and Jerusalem, reaffirming that a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution remains the only viable path toward lasting regional peace.

Meanwhile, according to the Oman News Agency, the two leaders expressed deep concern over the serious implications of the recent regional escalation, particularly following the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

They also underscored the need to return to political dialogue and pursue peaceful solutions in accordance with international law to maintain regional security and prevent further civilian suffering. Enditem
