PHNOM PENH, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The National Assembly of Cambodia on Friday amended the country's constitution, allowing the government to create a legal framework to revoke Cambodian citizenship from any individuals who conspire with foreign countries to destroy national interests.
A total of all 125 lawmakers, including Prime Minister Hun Manet, unanimously approved the amendment to Article 33 of the Constitution, allowing the citizenship of Cambodian citizens who collude with foreign countries to be revoked.
The amendment to the constitution came after some self-exiled opposition figures criticized the government over current border issues with Thailand. Enditem
