Philippine president approves proposed 2026 budget

MANILA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. approved the proposed 6.793 trillion pesos (roughly 119.82 billion U.S. dollars) budget for 2026, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Tuesday.

In a news briefing, Castro said the proposed budget reflects the administration's commitment to enhancing the quality of education and improving the lives of Filipinos.

In June, the Development Budget Coordination Committee approved the proposed 2026 national budget, which is equivalent to 22 percent of the country's gross domestic product.

The proposed 2026 budget will be submitted to Congress in August. Enditem
