ST. PETERSBURG, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russian Aerospace Forces on Thursday successfully launched an Angara-1.2 rocket carrying military satellites from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the northern Arkhangelsk region, the country's defense ministry said.
The launch took place at 12:32 p.m. Moscow time (0932 GMT), according to the ministry. It did not provide details about the number of satellites on board.
"At the estimated time, the spacecraft were launched into target orbits and taken over by the ground assets of the space forces of the Aerospace Forces," the ministry said in a statement.
The Angara-1.2, part of Russia's Angara family of launch vehicles, is a light-class rocket. Enditem
