MADRID, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Espanyol continued its busy summer in the transfer market on Wednesday, confirming the signing of midfielder Urko Gonzalez from Real Sociedad.
Espanyol paid an estimated four million euros ($4.7 million) for the 24-year-old, who signed a five-year contract. The agreement also guarantees Real Sociedad a percentage of any future transfer.
The move marks Gonzalez's return to Espanyol after a loan spell in the second half of the 2024-25 season, during which he made 17 La Liga appearances and helped the club narrowly avoid relegation.
He is the 14th player to join Espanyol this summer. Not all remain with the first team, however, as Hugo Perez and Marcos Fernandez have been loaned to second-division clubs Huesca and Ceuta, respectively, for the current season. Enditem
