Bangladesh's first robotic rehabilitation center inaugurated with Chinese assistance

DHAKA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's first robotic rehabilitation center at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) was officially inaugurated on Sunday.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Nurjahan Begum, adviser to the Bangladeshi Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, were among the guests who attended the launching ceremony.

Noting that healthcare is vital to the national economy and people's livelihood, Yao said the center marks a milestone in China-Bangladesh cooperation in the health sector.

China stands ready to further deepen collaboration with Bangladesh in healthcare, making it a new highlight in the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries, Yao added.

For her part, Nurjahan spoke highly of the irreplaceable role of the robotic rehabilitation center in promoting the rehabilitation of the injured and improving Bangladesh's medical standards.

She expressed gratitude to China for always extending a helping hand when Bangladesh is most in need, and voiced the hope that the two sides will carry out more cooperation to elevate bilateral relations to a new height.

Officials said that the robotic center is expected to benefit patients recovering from stroke, paralysis, neurological disorders, chronic pain, nerve injuries, frozen shoulder, trauma-related complications, and other physical impairments requiring intensive rehabilitation. Enditem
