KABUL, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have initiated construction on four new water supply networks in northern Samangan province, representing a key advancement in enhancing clean water access for rural communities, a local official announced Tuesday.

Valued at about 410,000 U.S. dollars, the projects will be built on the outskirts of Dara Souf Bala district, said Samaruddin Shahrukhi, director of information at the rural rehabilitation and development department.

Once completed, the networks are projected to serve nearly 800 families in the district and surrounding areas, delivering safe drinking water to mitigate health risks from contaminated sources while bolstering agricultural and household requirements, Shahrukhi added.

These efforts reflect the Afghan government's commitment to expanding development, welfare, and infrastructure initiatives nationwide, aimed at addressing economic hurdles and fostering job creation in the poverty-stricken country. Enditem
