SANAA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Yemen's Houthi-held capital Sanaa and al-Jawf province on Wednesday has risen to 46, with 165 injured, the Houthi-run health ministry said late Thursday.

The victims include 11 women and five children, while 29 other women and 31 children are among the injured, the ministry said in a statement, adding that many of the injured are in critical condition.

On Wednesday, Israel said its air forces hit missile launchers, camps and the media headquarters of the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea.

In response, Sarea said that there were no missile launchers in the media headquarters and civilian locations. He accused Israel of targeting civilian facilities and residential houses.

The group, which controls much of northern Yemen, vowed to continue attacks on Israel in retaliation and to press for the end of the war and blockade on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

On Thursday, the Houthis claimed responsibility for fresh missile and drone attacks, which Israel said were intercepted. Enditem
