Vietnam needs up to 92 bln USD for climate adaptation

HANOI, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam needs between 55 billion and 92 billion U.S. dollars in the 2021-2030 period to fully implement its climate adaptation tasks, Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The amount is equivalent to 3 percent to 5 percent of the country's 2020 gross domestic product, according to the country's updated national climate change adaptation plan for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050.

As the state budget can only meet a small part of the demand, Vietnam is expected to mobilize an additional 2.7 billion to over 6 billion dollars annually from non-budget sources, the report said. Enditem
