HELSINKI -- Sweden's central bank on Tuesday lowered its policy rate by 0.25 percentage points to 1.75 percent, aiming to bolster economic recovery and bring inflation closer to its 2 percent target over the medium term.
The Riksbank said the global economy remains weighed down by geopolitical tensions, though overall growth prospects are largely unchanged. At home, headline inflation stayed elevated in August, but core inflation excluding energy aligned more closely with forecasts as the krona strengthened and companies moderated price increases. PARIS -- Global gross domestic product (GDP) growth is projected to slow from 3.3 percent in 2024 to 3.2 percent in 2025, and further to 2.9 percent in 2026, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in its latest Economic Outlook released Tuesday.
The OECD said the downward revision from its previous forecast reflects the end of "front-loading" of trade and the impact of higher tariff rates and persistent policy uncertainty, which are dampening investment and global commerce. (France-OECD-Global Growth)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order designating Antifa as "a domestic terrorist organization," a move some experts believe lacks legal authority.
"President Donald J. Trump is right: the violence problem is on the Left. That's why he just designated Antifa -- a network of Radical Left terrorists that aim to overthrow the government through violence and agitation -- as a domestic terrorist organization," the White House said in a document.
