NEW DELHI, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- India and Britain signed agreements furthering their Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Mumbai on Thursday.

Starmer was on his first two-day official visit to India, which ended on Thursday.

During the talks, both leaders looked forward to the ratification of the CETA as early as possible to realize its benefits, said a joint statement issued on the occasion.

They also welcomed the resetting of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee, which will support the governance and utilization of the CETA, and drive forward the two sides' wider trade and investment partnership.

The two leaders also discussed global and regional issues of mutual interest, according to the joint statement. Enditem
