NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.56 percent to 98.977 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1609 U.S. dollars from 1.1547 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3346 dollars from 1.3281 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 151.72 Japanese yen, lower than 153.18 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8013 Swiss francs from 0.8074 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.4000 Canadian dollars from 1.4031 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 9.5216 Swedish kronor from 9.5587 Swedish kronor. Enditem
