ANKARA, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye on Saturday extradited Abdullah Alp Ustun, an international drug lord wanted under an Interpol Red Notice, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Ustun, also known as Don Vito, is the ringleader of the CHROOKE criminal organization, who is wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for "laundering assets derived from crime, trafficking or procuring drugs or stimulants, and establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crime," Yerlikaya said in a post on social media platform X.
Yerlikaya added that Hasan Lala, who is responsible for financial transactions within this criminal organization, was also extradited from the UAE to Türkiye the same day.
Lala is wanted with an Interpol Red Diffusion (Emergency Capture Message) for the crimes of "being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes, importing narcotic substances, and money laundering," according to the Turkish minister.
Yerlikaya said the operation was the result of the joint efforts of the General Directorate of Security's Interpol-Europol Department, the drug enforcement directorate, the intelligence directorate, as well as UAE security units and the Istanbul Provincial Police Department. Enditem
