MADRID, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Iago Aspas had a night to remember on the night he was honored by his club and fans after becoming Celta Vigo's all-time appearances leader on Thursday, and he marked the occasion with a vital goal.
The 38-year-old striker, now on 533 appearances, needed just a minute to put his side ahead in its Europa League tie at home to Nice, which ended in a 2-1 win for the Spanish team.
Celta's lead lasted 15 minutes before Mohamed Ali-Cho leveled after cutting inside defender Marcos Alonso and scoring with a left-footed shot. The visitors suffered a setback in the 34th minute when Nice captain Jonathan Clauss was shown two yellow cards within minutes, leaving his side with 10 men.
Celta pressed for the winner, with Borja Iglesias hitting the woodwork on the hour, and the hosts eventually benefited from a stroke of luck when Iglesias' shot was blocked by goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf and rebounded into the net off Kojo Peprah Oppong.
The home side had to defend until the end to secure the points, with Nice a constant threat from set pieces despite being a player down.
Betis produced a flat display in Belgium but remained unbeaten in the competition with a 0-0 draw away to Genk.
Cedrik Bakambu wasted Betis' best chance with a poor finish, while Oh Hyeon-Gyu hit the post for Genk as the home side also went close.
Rayo Vallecano earned a point in its Conference League visit to Swedish side Hacken.
Things began going to plan for the Spanish team, which opened the scoring through Alvaro Garcia, but Julius Lindberg and Isak Brusberg put the hosts ahead with goals either side of halftime.
Rayo was below its best but salvaged a draw at the end when Alvaro Garcia was fouled by Olie Samuelsson, and after a VAR check, Andrei Ratiu converted a 103rd-minute penalty. Enditem
