KABUL, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a road linking two districts to the provincial capital in east Afghanistan's Logar province was launched on Thursday, the state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported, citing a local official.
The 32-km-long road, funded entirely from the national budget at a cost of more than 1 billion afghani (over 15 million U.S. dollars), was expected to be completed within 30 months, according to Mawlawi Janat Gul Saraj, director of the public work department of Logar.
With the construction of the road, Baraki Barak and Charkh districts will be linked to Pul-e-Alam city, the provincial capital of the province, and it will ease the transport of local agricultural produce to regional markets and boost economic vitality in these rural areas.
These efforts reflect the Afghan government's commitment to expanding development, welfare, and infrastructure initiatives nationwide, aimed at addressing economic hurdles and fostering job creation in the poverty-stricken country. Enditem
