JAKARTA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's palm oil industry maintained strong growth through August 2025, with both production and export value rising steadily, the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) said on Tuesday.
Cumulative production of crude palm oil and palm kernel oil reached 39.04 million tons by August, up 13.08 percent year-on-year, according to GAPKI Secretary General Hadi Sugeng.
The growth was driven by higher plantation productivity, strong biodiesel demand, and solid export performance, he said.
Domestic consumption rose to 2.1 million tons in August, mainly supported by the energy sector, where biodiesel consumption increased 5.71 percent to 1.11 million tons.
While palm oil exports in August fell 1.81 percent from July to 3.47 million tons, and export value rose 3.5 percent to 3.82 billion U.S. dollars, supported by higher international prices averaging 1,204 dollars per ton.
Cumulatively, palm oil export value from January to August reached 24.78 billion dollars, up nearly 43 percent year-on-year.
GAPKI projected that the palm oil industry would continue steady growth until the end of 2025, with export value potentially exceeding 30 billion dollars if global prices remain high. Enditem
