LONDON, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were injured after a stabbing attack on board a train in eastern England, police said on Sunday.
The train was travelling from Doncaster to London before an unscheduled stop at Huntingdon station to allow police to intervene.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, including a 32-year-old and a 35-year-old, both born in Britain, said the police in a statement.
Of the nine injured, four have been discharged from hospital, and two remain in a life-threatening condition, according to the statement.
"At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident," it said, adding that counter-terrorism officers are supporting the investigation as they "work to establish the full circumstances and motivation."
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the "appalling incident" is "deeply concerning," urging people to follow the advice of local authorities.
Defence Secretary John Healey told Sky News on Sunday that early assessment indicates the stabbing was an "isolated attack." Enditem
