KABUL, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Security forces in the drive against illegal arms discovered and seized a quantity of arms and ammunitions including five pieces of Kalashnikov assault rifles in the northern Afghanistan Sari Pul province on Sunday, spokesman for the provincial police office, Naqibullah Alamyar, said Monday.
The haul, which included five pieces of Kalashnikovs, two hunting guns, a set of walkie-talkie and hundreds of rounds of ammunitions were recovered during a series of operations in different districts of the province, the official added.
Alamyar did not say if anyone has been arrested. However, noted that the security personnel as part of efforts to ensure law and order in the province will not allow anyone to keep or carry arms illegally.
Earlier in similar crackdown, police discovered illegal weapons in the eastern Panjshir province and arrested an alleged weapon smuggler on Saturday. Enditem
