VLADIVOSTOK, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Russian cosmonaut Alexey Zubritsky used biometric technology aboard the International Space Station to complete a transaction on Russia's "Gosuslugi" (State Services) website on Saturday.
According to a statement by the Russian space corporation Roscosmos, Zubritsky accessed the Gosuslugi online service using biometric recognition and applied for a function that prohibits others from applying for a mobile SIM card in his name, even if they possess his documents.
"The whole process of the service took only 30 seconds," said the statement.
The Gosuslugi website is a government service portal developed by the Russian government, through which users can apply for a driver's license, make medical appointments, pay taxes, and process various documents. Users can log in to the website with a username and password or via biometric authentication. Enditem
