KABUL, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Fifty-one development and maintenance projects have been completed and brought into operation in northern Afghanistan's Samangan province, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development announced Thursday.

Funded domestically at a cost exceeding 1.2 million U.S. dollars, the projects were implemented in the Khuram wa Sarbagh district, according to the ministry's statement.

These projects have created job opportunities for hundreds of local residents and improved the living conditions of thousands of people in the province, it said.

In a related development, construction has begun on 42 new water supply networks, valued at more than 2 million dollars, in eastern Paktika province on Wednesday.

These initiatives are part of the Afghan government's ongoing efforts to expand infrastructure and development programs nationwide.

By prioritizing rural rehabilitation, water resource management, and essential public works, the government seeks to address persistent economic challenges, alleviate poverty, and generate employment opportunities across the country. Enditem
