KABUL, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have started the construction of a 200-bed hospital worth 4 million U.S. dollars in the eastern Kunar province, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported on Friday.
According to the report, the new medical facility is being built with financial support from the Afghan government and is intended to enhance access to essential healthcare services for residents of Kunar and surrounding areas.
The report said Afghanistan currently has 200 domestic drug-producing factories that supply medicines locally. The government is working to establish additional pharmaceutical plants and hospitals in an effort to reduce the need for Afghans to travel abroad for medical treatment.
The Afghan government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the healthcare system by expanding medical facilities and improving access to healthcare services nationwide. Enditem
